Doris Marie Zerfas, age 89 of Byron Center, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025. Doris was thought of as one of the sweetest people you have ever known! She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Phillip Zerfas; son, David Zerfas; and brothers Delmer and August Junior Steffes. She is survived by her sons Paul (Rebecca) Zerfas and Andrew Zerfas; grandchildren Izzy and Will Zerfas; sister, Donna (Jerry) Schumaker; and many nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Church, 2459 146th Ave., New Salem, MI, with Msgr. Michael Hazard and Fr. Christopher Derda celebrants. A time to visit with family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2025 and Tuesday, July 8 from 9-10:15 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI. Rosary vigil service will be held 6:30 p.m. Monday evening. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Visitation Cemetery.
