Jack Lewis Hitts passed away suddenly July 4, 2023 at U of M Health-West Hospital. Jack was born October 16, 1950 in Baldwin, MI. He was the son of Ronald K. Hitts Sr. and Grace Hitts, who both preceded him in death. Jack had many siblings some of whom are still living - Ronald K. (Marilyn) Hitts Jr., Pat (Dale) Weber, Karyn Hitts, Diane (Marty) Veldman, Helena (Earl) Yetman, Beth (Jim) Whitmore. Siblings Roger Hitts and Donna Sewell preceded him in death.
He was married to Yvonne Charlotte Dewolf for 53 years. Jack and Yvonne had two children Naomi Suzanne Dalton and Jack Lewis (Jennifer) Hitts Jr. There were nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved Jack Sr.
Jack worked hard to provide for his family. When he wasn't working, and before the decline in health, you could catch him gardening, working on cars, or tinkering on things around the house. When he was younger, he used to race cars which was also a passion of his. He enjoyed the 1/4 mile - both racing and watching - and really enjoyed cars in general. He spent most of his life working on vehicles and then went over the road driving truck for many years.
Jack was a loving, caring, and compassionate man who liked to help people and would give the shirt off his back to help. He never liked to see people struggle. He had a sense of humor that was unmatched and knew how to crack jokes when you most need to hear them. There was not a person with whom he would not talk and befriend.
Burial will be 12 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2023 at Resurrection Cemetery, 4100 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming, MI 49509 (Ascension 58B, plot number 3). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresbyron.com.
