

He was born to Peter and Josephine Winters on November 9, 1932, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lee (Jense) Winters; children Diane and Ron Wierenga, Sher and Al Steenwyk, Craig Winters, Dale and Rhonda Winters; much-loved grandchildren Missy, Tim, Mike, Rachel, Brian, Heidi, Kristi, Chad, Amy, Danny, Jess, Dan, Marc, Steph, Cassie, Katie, Zach, Sage, Andrew, Jordyn; and 17 great-grandchildren who adored him. He is also survived by his brother, Bob and Mary Winters; brother- and sister-in-law Joe and Eleanor Jense; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by six brothers and seven sisters.
Ken lived a life of integrity, family values, and faith. He was proud to serve his country in Greenland during the Korean War. He served his church as a deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher, and Cadet counselor. His great joy was spending time with his family, especially enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He retired from Steelcase after 35 years. He enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending winters in Florida. He loved being in his workshop making barns for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be forever loved and missed.
Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Cook Funeral Home (2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315). A celebration of Ken’s life will commence at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Byron Center First Christian Reformed Church (8541 Byron Center Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315), with visitation one hour prior to the service from 10 - 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. David Murray will be officiating. Interment will be at Winchester Cemetery.
