Myrtle Lue Hamilton

Our beautiful matriarch, Myrtle Lue (Mitchell) Hamilton, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, February 12, 2025. She was born in Camden, Arkansas June 13, 1949, and later settled with her husband, George, in Grand Rapids, MI. She fought a long battle with health issues, but on that day, The Most High called her home to battle no more. She fought the good fight.

Myrtle was preceded in death by husband, George Hamilton; parents John Lewis and IcyLee Mitchell; brothers Thomas Mitchell, John Leo Mitchell; sisters Venesther Fergueson, MayFrances Mitchell Walker, Queen Esther, Murvine Nelson, Trudell Mitchell Dilworth, Christine Rucks.

Myrtle was the dearly loved mother of Mia Mitchell (Kevin) Kaufman, Nikki Hamilton (Christopher) Woods, Teyon Hamilton Gibson, Derek (Sherlyn) Noisette. She is also survived by brother, John Lewis (Gloria) Mitchell. She was a grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. With her beautiful smile, warm heart, compassion, teaching spirit, and fierce determination, Mom made such a positive impact on many lives as a foster parent, mentor, and leader in her career and community. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and close friends. Her deep devotion and faith in The Most High were always evident. Her bright spirit goes before us as a torch to lead our generations always.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2025 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Repast immediately after service at Holiday Inn Grand Rapids South, 6569 Clay Ave. SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49548.
