Predeceased by her husband and best friend of 38 years, Donald (Don) Allan. The greatest Mom you could ask for to sons Dustin (and his wife Danielle, of Toronto, Ontario), Danny (of Thunder Bay, Ontario), and daughter Brea (and her husband Rory, of Cambridge, Ontario). She was adored by her grandchildren Tate, Cohen, Kynlee, and Donavin. Survived by her partner Gerry Stronach. We will all continue to live by Barb and Don’s motto - Life’s a journey. Enjoy the ride.
Barb worked as an educator in various capacities for 40 years. She was a dedicated teacher. Teaching was not just a profession for Barb, it was her passion and calling. She dedicated herself to shaping young minds and instilling a love of learning. She leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, kindness and inspiration.
Barb had a larger-than-life smile and personality. She was never shy to talk to anyone or dance anywhere (much to the embarrassment of her kids) – she always lived her life to the fullest. Her last words to her family were in a response to her daughter Brea, asking her if she knew her children loved her. Her reply was “I love you more” – four words that we will cherish for the rest of our days.
As per Barb’s wishes there will be no funeral service. Instead, the family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Friday, April 4th from 5-9 pm at Whistle Bear Golf Club, located at 1316 Dickie Settlement Rd, Cambridge, ON N1R 5S3. In lieu of flowers and in Barb’s memory, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
We miss you Mom – say Hi to Dad for us.
Love,
Dustin, Danny, and Brea
