Donna grew up in Springdale, Newfoundland. She was called to become a Salvation Army Officer going into training College The Servants Of Christ 1961-1963 she met Harvey Pilgrim. They married June 29, 1965. Over 10 years had three wonderful children. Beth Anita and Leon. During 41 years moving from one end of Canada to the other it was not always easy but always ministering to those in need. Her passions were Homeleague, League of Mercy and Over Sixty clubs. Of course making sure things were in "tip top" shape along the way. Not a kitchen without a good overhaul!
She always taught her children the importance of being thankful. Acknowledging always with a thank you card or call when receiving a gift. Always bringing a hostess gift wherever you went. Everyone always well fed. Whether a Jiggs dinner, casseroles, full Sunday dinners with all the trimmings on the best china. Home made bread, squares, cookies, cherry "cha cha", strawberry rhubarb jam. Many of us have received every year her singing "Happy Birthday" to you on the phone. If you didn't answer, then it was on your answering machine when you got home.
When the grandchildren were born, a very proud Nanny was a bragging machine! Many milestones and notes were taken to make sure details were not left out!
Rest in peace and without pain now mom and Nanny. Don't worry, we will look after dad, Poppy. We miss you, we love you, we will always remember you. Until we meet again on that beautiful shore xoxo
So many thanks, to so many people along this journey. From the Dr. and Nurses at Scarborough Birchmount Health Network to friends, family and other fellow clergy near and far.
