With belief in the joy of our resurrection to the presence of God and the heavenly realms, we announce the passing into God’s loving arms of Earl Ellis recently. Earl passed as he lived – on his own terms and schedule – on what would have been his wife’s 92nd birthday.
Earl was an amazing husband, father, friend and servant with a great sense of humour and honour. He loved to laugh, travel, explore and offer his talents to various charities. He was a charter member of the Lions Club of Glen Morris serving up drinks at events and selling goods as fundraisers. He was a proud member of the Ancient Mariners canoe club of Cambridge. He was also very proud of his role as Durwarden at the Durward Senior’s centre in downtown Galt. An avid golfer, canoer and camper – he was always busy.
He is survived by his children: Kathy (Mike) Dooley, Mike and Stephan Ellis as well as his grandchildren: Kristine Hibbs and Ian Dooley as well as his great-grandchildren: Britney, Nathan, Kaydance, Leah & Jackson.
Earl was predeceased by his parents (Frank and Ethel Ellis), his wife Margaret (2005), his son Tony (1965), his friend Shirley (2021) as well as his siblings (Ken Wendland, Dorothy Allen and Stan Ellis).
Many thanks to the staff at Seasons Retirement home and to the medical team that was assisting Dad through his brief illness especially Tracy & Erica (@ Seasons) and Dr. Sehl and the many nurses on Medical Unit A at Cambridge Hospital.
Visitation will be held at Coutts Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (96 St Andrews St, Cambridge) on Sunday, November 13 from 7 – 9pm with a celebration of life to be held on Monday, November 14 at 1pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church (110 Francis Street, Cambridge).
