Esther met her first husband James (Jim) Simpson at the Navy Base and shortly after her marriage they moved to Galt (now Cambridge), Ontario. Esther worked at Genesco Shoe factory for many years, till the factory closed. She then worked at Cambrian Shoes and Appleton Electric.
Esther spent many cherished years with her second husband Larry Caldwell, and together they enjoyed auction sales, camping, country music and travelling, especially to Nova Scotia as much as they could.
In later years Esther was a devoted grandmother, taking care of her grandchildren, helping raise them was the joy of her life. She was also a devout Catholic, attending church every Sunday till she could no longer go. Family was her priority, always being a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. Sitting in the sun, doing find-a-word puzzles and knitting were her favourite pastimes.
