It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eugene Francis Rooney, surrounded by his family, at Hospice Wellington, on August 30, in his 76th year. Beloved father of Kate Blanchette and her husband, Sylvain, of Sudbury; fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, and Leah Blanchette; brother of Helen Doucet (Louis) of Pointe Verte, NB , Bridget Walser (Dan) of Elora, Dan Rooney (Brenda) of Elora, Peg Rooney (Ron Chittle) of Amherstburg ON, Mike Rooney (Pat) of Fergus, Paul Rooney (Laurie) of Fergus; fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and loyal friends. Predeceased by his son Mark; parents, Tom and Helen Rooney; sisters Madeline Hicks, Mary Newell, and Patsy Coughler; nephew Stephen Hutchison; brothers-in-law Lyle Coughler and Charlie Hicks. A private family service was entrusted to Coutts Funeral Home of Cambridge, at St. Mary's Cemetary in Elora.
