It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Fred Malatches, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, son, and friend, whose presence was truly larger than life. He left us on October 5th, after a long and courageous battle, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Fred was the cherished husband of Koula and the proud father of Sophia and Rina, whom he adored beyond measure. He celebrated every milestone in their lives and took immense pride in all their accomplishments. Beloved brother to Steve (Theodora) and uncle to Dimitri and Amelia. Devoted son to Sophia and James (predeceased). Forever remembered by his cousins, family, and friends.
A respected and accomplished umpire, Fred was known for his passion for the game. He took great pride in, and was honoured to have umpired the ISC World Tournaments. His infectious smile and sense of humour made him unforgettable to all who knew him.
He will be remembered not only for his achievements, but also for his love and devotion to his family, the stories he told, and the passion he had for his Raiders.
Fred’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
