

Garnet loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, camping, and fishing. He was an excellent cook and poker player, and was a devoted Teacher for many years until he retired in 2006. Garnet was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, Kitchener Rangers, and any curling that he could watch on TV. Garnet will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Alina Van Horne, children Ryan Van Horne (Nadine), Tyler Van Horne (Lydia), Kylie Van Horne, Amanda Thompson (Trevor), Martin Matte (Megan), and Angel Matte (Walker), grandchildren Oliver, Jackson, Hayden, Alice, Abigail, Nova, Hudson, Austin, Isabelle, Bentley, and Grayson, brothers Oliver and Bruce Van Horne and their families, sister Rosalynd Sim and her family, and his brothers-in-law Hector, Michael, Simon, Gilbert, and Sylvain. Garnet was predeceased by his parents Ross and Dorothy Van Horne, and his brother-in-law Ghislain "Juice." A Visitation will be held at T. Little Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 1st from 2pm - 4pm and 7pm - 9pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 2nd at 10am in the Funeral home's chapel, and will be live-streamed on our website by clicking the link below. Cremation will follow.
