Giulia was born in Ripi, Frosinone, Italy on January 13th, 1932. Even as a child, Giulia was a hard worker, lending a hand on nearby farms and spending cherished days with her cousin and lifelong friend, Elena, doing things like husking corn or gathering clothes and heading to the river to wash them. Giulia loved making a whole day out of simple things like this, just the women, talking and laughing. Growing up during World War II in Italy, from ages 7 to 13, shaped Giulia's view of the world and instilled in her a deep resilience. She married Giulio Fioretti in her early 20’s, and they had 3 boys together who grew up with them in Italy. As a family, they immigrated to Canada in the late 1960s in search of better opportunities. Despite English being her second language she had the extraordinary ability to make new friends everywhere she went. She had a passion for gardening, knitting, Italian cooking, playing cards and above all, family. She loved and revered her family deeply.
She leaves behind her sons Sebastiano (Angela), Giovanni (Victoria) and her daughter-in-law Roseanne Fioretti. She will be missed dearly by her grandchildren Tania (Tarik), Silvia (Bart), David (Sara), Sophie (Chelsea), Lino (Sara), Vanessa (Nicholas), Michael (Alexandara), and James (Tamara). She was fortunate to share many joyful moments with her 11 great-grandchildren, Thomas, Eric, Jack, William, Siara, Daliah, Aubrianna, Matteo, Alexander, Julius and Raymond.
She will be greatly missed by her sisters Natalina and Genoveffa and her brother Antonio.
Giulia was predeceased by her husband Giulio Fioretti, her oldest son Mario Fioretti and her brother Dario Lombardi.
