I was sadden and shocked to hear of the  passing of Jim. I fondly remember him and his sister Karen enthusiastically organizing, supporting and participating in numerous SHAC  activities at GCI and  celebrating together the 125th and 150th Reunions.  Deepest sympathies to all  cherished family and friends.  His "Ghost " and Community  Spirit will  forever bring comfort and ignite Joy. 


I’m saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. I met Jim through hockey where our families became close. Jim always had a smile, also I admired him for he seemed so physically in shape relative to me knowing we were about the same age. I was fortunate to have met Jim’s parents and learned much about the Cambridge Winter Hawks through Jim’s dad. My condolence to the entire family. Stephanie, Matthew and Katie don’t hesitate to reach out for anything. I’m certain Marselis and Raegan will be there for you as well.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  My sincerest condolences to you all. 

I am shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Jim.  Jim hired me and I spent 12 great years with him at Rockwell.  Always a cornerstone in that department and a great mentor for me during my early career.  To this day, in times of personal or professional struggle, my mind will wander to the thought of "what would Jim Harding have done". My condolences to the entire family during this difficult time.

It was with great shock and greater sadness that I learned of Jim’s passing.  He was a gentleman in the office and on the golf course, and always had some fact or insight to be shared regardless of the topic.    My family sends our condolences and prayers to Jim’s  family and friends.  

I can’t imagine the sorrow and anguish of your loss.  Jim was a classmate starting in grade six.  His laughter and enthusiasm were contagious. He always took time to connect and every person knew it was genuine. I will remember him fondly.  Sending you my deep condolences on your tragic loss. May he rest in the arms of angels.

We at Chartwell Queen’s Square grew to know and care for Jim as a loving and dedicated son.  His daily presence was a light of life for his Mother, and a delight to all of our staff.  His robust commitment to his Mother’s care and well being was unprecedented. May the Lord accept him and honour him accordingly.

It's with great sadness I learned of Jim's passing today, as I worked with Jim at Rockwell Automation for 25 years, albeit 2-3 time zones away in western Canada.  Jim was always a very welcoming friend and colleague and my sincere condolences go to his family and friends.

Jim hired me at Rockwell back in 1995.  I worked for him for 20+ years until he retired.  You will not find a better boss and one that looked out for his employees more than Jim did.  Over that time Jim became a great friend.  There are so many wonderful memories at Rockwell and outside of work, most often at the hockey rink.  He will be deeply missed by me and my family.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jim's family.

I'm deeply saddened and shocked by the news of Jim's passing. I had a privilege to work for Jim at Rockwell Automation and will remember him as an exceptional leader and a role model who I always looked up to. He was always positive, witty and had a great story for every situation. He was a great coach and mentor and was very generous to share his experience and knowledge with the team.

Words cannot express how saddened  we are to hear of Jim's passing.  Jim grew up a few doors away, and later moved into the house next door. We were blessed to  see him grow up on our street, and then to have he and his family as neighbors .

I had the priviledge to work with Jim during his volunteer time at the Cambridge Y.  As chair of the board and I as CEO we spent many board meetings, conferences and events together. Jim was a great board chair who was always available to chat through a concern or help make an important decisions. He was also a solid friend who I golfed with and traveled to a number of Y events with. He will be a huge loss to both his family and the community. My prayers go out to the family. Jim, you will be missed by so many.

This saddens me more than words can express. Jimmy and his family lived next door to my family when we were very young. As very young children, we went to school together and often ran into each other over the years.  

My twin Liz and I debate often and I wish I could find the picture of us at either our 5th or 6th birthday but the story goes like this Jimmy Harding was the first boy we kissed, lol.

While growing up Jimmy was always a year ahead of us in school, but Jim was always a scholar, a leader, and involved in everything.  Jim was Mr. Popular, he was kind and always willing to lend a hand.  

One thing that will be missed by everyone from his family, friends, coworkers, and basically anyone he came across is his very infectious smile.
Jim always took time to say hello, ask how things were going and share his love for his family.  He adored his family and was very proud of them all.

Jim my friend you maybe gone here on earth but you have left your  mark/footprint here on earth.  From your family, your children and their families to all those lives whoms paths you have crossed you will be remembered fondly in their hearts and in their memories.  Each time you are remembered they will be reminded of the kind hearted gentle soul you were to us all and we will see that infectious smile.

Working with Jim at GCI as a teacher advisor, I came to know and really appreciate Jim for the very special person that he was...smart, interested, friendly, capable...a natural leader.

Jim and I were involved in the Cambridge Y for more than 25 years. When I joined the board in the late 90's Jim was the chair.  At the time there were 25 board members. It was pretty easy to get off track with a group that size.  I recall Jim being extremely skilled at running productive meetings. 
About 2010 the Cambridge Y was about a year into a collaboration with the Kitchener Y.  A substantial number of Y members were really upset about changes that happened in the daily organization of  the Y. It was fair to say that the entire project was in jeopardy. Our leadership group needed a way to publicly explain the steps we'd taken. I recruited Jim to moderate an all members "round table" in the gym. Jim was widely recognized for his integrity and  contribution to the Y.  He conducted the exchange of views in that meeting for over two hours. We dealt with a lot of difficult issues that night. To Jim's credit, everyone was heard and pretty much everyone ended up staying afterwards to talk. I could not have been more thankful that a real Y leader stepped up.
Over the course of my years at the Y, Jim Harding was a constant and valued contributor. We will miss him. 
I want  to convey my sympathies to his mother, children and sisters.


I first met Jim in 1986 the year we both started with Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation.  We also played hockey together on the Rockwell team in the Cambridge Industrial league. As we progressed in our careers, we would often cross paths . Jim was always good for a story and a joke or two as we discussed business . He will be missed by many.  My sincere condolences to the Harding family , gone way too soon. 

I was deeply saddened to hear of Jim's passing.  

I have many fond memories working with him on the Canadian leadership team at Rockwell.   He was a colleague who you could always count on to bring a unique perspective  to every conversation.  

We shared a love of language and words and I remember him sharing a daily new word and its definition with me so we could both learn together.   I will remember him for his warm smile and greeting whenever I passed him in the hallway.  

I pray for his soul to rest in peace and for his family to find strength as they grieve his loss.

With sadness I extend my condolences to the Harding Family and extended family. I played Sunday morning hockey with Jim for 30 plus years. It was always a special moment to witness the banter between Dave and Jim. It was evident to me  that Jim was very proud of his children. He presented himself to be a modest person. Jim and I shared the burden of being Habs fans in the midst of a sometimes hostile Leaf dominant Hockey dressing room. I will remember Jim and you his family, in my prayers.

For a brief number of years in the late 1970's and early 1980's Jim was part of the short-lived G.C.I.S.C.A. (Galt Collegiate Institute School Captain's Association) that met annually in the Men's Room at the Albion Hotel.  The stated purpose of the Association was to ceremonially pass on the key to the S.H.A.C. Office from one School Captain to the next. Actually, the real purpose of the Association was to enjoy the cheap draft beer served at the Albion.

Amidst this annual backdrop, Jim was a hardy and active participant.  His warmth, sincerity, energy, extraordinary people skills, radiant charm and joie de vie gave portent to the many life and career successes he subsequently enjoyed.

I am so shocked and sorry to hear of Jim's passing.  Jim and I worked together at Allen-Bradley in the late 80's.  Along with Jeff, Rick & Bob we shared a lot of laughs and lunches and some golf.  Jim was great to be around.  He was so accomplished at everything that he did.  He also had a great sense of humour.  We attended each other's weddings and sadly fell out of touch too long ago.

He enjoyed a great spin class with his colleagues,  and he always thought of others.   On several occasions he  delivered  some mean apple pies to our family. Words can't express my heartfelt sorrow for your profound and tragic loss. Jim was devoted to his family, so accomplished and a supportive, kind  and loyal friend to so many. He enriched so many lives with his positivity and cared deeply for this community.  Jim and I have been classmates and friends for 52 years. He always made me laugh with his witty ways and a twinkle in his eyes and an infectious smile. I remember fondly our time at GCI and in student council, SHAC and Jim's achievements as our leader. At our time at University, he always would look out for me like a caring brother. Whenever we would connect he would talk adoringly about his family. Family was so important to Jim. In the years leading up to my retirement from Allen Bradley, I worked on a special project with a small team of volunteers in the basement, near a classroom and meeting rooms. Jim often came downstairs for meetings in these rooms and as was his practice, he'd arrive a bit early for them. On many occasions, as he waited for the meeting to start, he'd approach me with a friendly, "Hi Rob, how's it going?" I always appreciated these visits because Jim was  always friendly and sincere and typically had us both laughing soon after his arrival. Jim would ask questions, listen intently and follow up with more questions until he was satisfied that he understood what I was working on. Not once did Jim ever make our time about himself. 
I am truly saddened to have read of Jim's passing and wish to convey my sincere condolences to his entire family and other loved ones. Jim will most surely be missed.

My sincerest condolences to the Harding family on the stunning loss of Jim. We were teamates on GCI’s hockey team and later Mr. Hollywood, a group of fun, and big personalities. Jim was
our archetype. 

 I fondly remember Friday night apres high school hockey parties at his good friend Mike “Bert”Kearns’  house.

We were in the same residence in 1st yr university and later intersected at U of T.  I remember Jim as athletic, bright, hardworking, ambitious and fun loving. I’m pleased he had the chance to retire but sorry that he had to leave so soon.

I was shocked to see that Jim had passed.  I both taught and coached him during his 5 years at GCI and I have many memories of Jim that I am sure are shared with Paul Sutton and Mike Kearns . My condolences to all his family members.

This news is so devastatingly sad and shocking. Jimmy you were clearly the most fit and athletic of the 58+ hockey line from Sunday morning hockey.  I treasure the time we played together with Bobby and will miss doing that with you greatly. My sincerest condolences to all your family. Play on, ride on, swing on my dear friend. Our family has good ol'time hockey memories of Jim, the coach and fan.  The first time we met Jim he was skating on Shades Mill with Matthew.  Our little boys then benefited from growing up down the street from each other and then playing in countless arenas for a few years.

I, myself, attended GCI at the same time as Jim! (1975-1979). I did not know Jim too well, but I remember him as a very nice person and very involved in activities at the school! He was always a perfect gentleman at the time and of course at Rockwell Automation! ( of course he and myself would and will always remember it as Allen-Bradley Canada!!). We will all rejoice and be proud to have known you for your very short time on this planet as we know as earth.

This is very shocking and sad news.  Jim was a great guy and respected leader.  The way Jim communicated when providing updates at Rockwell Automation was always well received even if it was bad news because you could tell he cared.  Our joke was that Jim needed to setup meetings with Gym at lunch in-order to have time to work out.  You will be so missed.  I’ve read that the soul is much greater than the body so Jim’s will be huge!      

I was very saddened to learn of Jim passing. I worked with Jim at Rockwell Automation for many years and leaned on his guidance and support in the final years of my career. His ever present smile and cheerful demeanour made it a pleasure to work with him. My condolences to his family and friends, and in fact the community he joyfully worked so hard for. It is with true sadness to hear about the passing of Jim.  I have many fond memories of working with Jim at Rockwell and we shared many stories.  Had many laughs and shed a few tears, but he was always there for extra words of wisdom or advise.  He was a true family guy and loved his family dearly.
