Born on November 19th, 1925, in Lodz, Poland. Jane was the beloved wife of the late Andrzej “Andrew” Machnicki (deceased February 4th, 2005). Predeceased by her father Marian Aleksander Stefanski, mother Margaret Stefanski and her brother Marian Stefanski.
Both Jane and Andrew immigrated to Canada for a better life in 1948, where they met in Hamilton. They moved to Cambridge (Galt) and married on September 1st, 1951. Jane worked in the nursing department, then housekeeping department at Cambridge Memorial Hospital until her retirement. Both she and her husband, Andrew, enjoyed happy times at their cottage in Honey Harbour and created many memories there.
Jane, along with her husband, spent their final years at Chartwell Queen’s Square in Cambridge since 2002. Words cannot express gratitude to all the kind staff at Chartwell Queen’s Square and Innisfree Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they have given Jane. She will be missed by the many special friends she has made since moving to Canada.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 29th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge, followed by a reception.
