It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my Father, John Bilodeau on September 14th, 2020.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Rosanne (Rob) and two grandchildren; Justin and Chantal Lapierre. He is survived by his sister Pierette of Montreal and his brother Andre (Ghislaine) and sister-in-law Lauraine Bilodeau. He leaves behind his nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his wife, Gisele (2009), his brother Normand (2017) and his parents Arthur and Gilberte Lemelin of St. Fabien de Panet, Quebec.

He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Branch 2184 Galt. A former parishioner at St. Gregory’s Church. He was a longtime employee of Rockwell Automation. John was often seen working in his garage with an available chair for friends and neighbors to drop in for visit. He was an avid snowmobiler, loved to fish, play golf and watch hockey.

He was a resident at the Marian Residence for over two years.

In accordance with current Covid-19 Provincial, Federal and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario regulations, special arrangements have been made to accommodate the safety and convenience of everyone. Access to the facility will be controlled and all visitors will be required to wear a mask, to provide the funeral home personnel with their name and telephone number upon arrival, and to observe physical distancing measures while on the premises. Visitation will be held at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge, 519-621-1650 on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 6-9 pm. Upon arrival to the scheduled events, funeral home staff will provide complete directions. Due to the current restrictions, the Funeral Mass will be private. However, all are invited to join through a live broadcast of the Mass that will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020 on the Coutts Funeral Home Facebook page.

His daughter wishes to thank everyone for his care at the Marian Residence and for all prayers received. A special thank you to all the caregivers at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in the Med C ward for their compassionate care over the last 5 weeks.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

I personally will always remember Jean-Yves’s laughter, being it was like being around his mom again; from way down inside and contagious. His whole face smiled. Also, he was a wonderful friend to my mom after my dad drowned 11 yrs ago (his step-brother actually). We knew when she was with him, she would be well treated. From the bottom of my heart, i will always be grateful. He had some of dad’s ways, and that felt so good in my heart. Sending love and affection to Rosanne, Chantal and Justin, and his whole family. God Bless. RIP Jean Yves
