John is now reunited with his beloved wife of 60 years, Doris. Devoted father of Ronald (Martha), Mark, and Brent (Bri-Anna). Loving Papa of 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He will forever remain in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents John and Doris and his brothers Doug (Noreen) and Wayne.
A true advocate for his community, John’s journey in public service began with a simple but determined mission - to fight for a promised park in his neighbourhood. The commitment led him to serve on the City and Regional Councils, including the Grand River Conservation Authority, for an incredible 30 years, always striving for the best for his city and beyond. A former President of Galt Jaycees, he believed in the power of leadership and service, shaping his community for the better. His passion for people and his dedication to making a difference were evident in every aspect of his life.
John spent many years working with Mutual Life Insurance, where his natural ability to connect with people shone through. Known for his warm personality and love of conversation, he never met a stranger-only a friend he hadn’t yet made. Whether he was enjoying reading, traveling with Doris on their many European and Caribbean trips, or simply sharing a laugh with loved ones, and close friends, John embraced life with enthusiasm and kindness. In recent years, he found great joy in the chapter of his life at Granite Landing, forming meaningful friendships and embracing each day with gratitude.
John’s family is sincerely indebted to Dr. Helen Lin, the nurses, staff, support staff, and volunteers at Medical Daycare at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Adam Wilson, Dr. Matthew Kilmurry, Dr. Brent Guy, Dr. Andrew Burkett, Dr. Dan Kottachchi, Dr. Lyndsay Evans, Dr. Tianyang Dai, and the dedicated nurses, staff, support staff, and volunteers at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Grand River Hospital, and St. Mary’s Hospital. The family is also deeply grateful for the compassionate care and kindness from the staff and residents at Granite Landing.
John’s legacy is one of unwavering devotion to family, friendship, and community. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those whose lives he touched.
