

Suddenly and unexpectedly, in his sleep on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the age of 87. Predeceased by his warbride Audrey Hilda Cross (nee Andrews) 1973 and daughter in law Jean Cross (Geier) 2009. Loved father to Timothy (Marlene), Gillian (Ron) Hoekstra and Amanda (Paul) Minogue of Canberra, Australia. Dear grampa to Stephen (Deb), Darren (Jennifer), Heather of Halifax, N.S, Ian and Erik. Survived by sisters Coreen and Isobel and brother Doug. Joseph will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was RCAF Sargeant and navigator in the Second World War and retired from Babcock and Wilcox Canada after 37 years as a flame cutter. Joseph was a loyal and longstanding member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 121, Galt, served as President for many years and countless committees and fundraisers. He recently received the Golden Palm pin for 60 years of commitment. Joseph was an avid bowler, golfer and cribbage player.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and support staff for their kindness, support and care of Joseph over the last three years.
According to Joesph’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion branch 121 Galt on Thursday September 27th at 1:00p.m.
In memory of Joseph, donations to the Canadian War Amps or the Cambridge Memorial Hospital M.R.I unit would be appreciated by the family.
