She is survived by her children Grahame (Ann), Maureen (Rob) and her grandchildren Dale, Daniel, Deanna, Gregory, Sarah (Ryan) and one great grandson.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Daniel and her 5 siblings.
There are many nieces, nephews and friends near and far who will miss her wonderful smile.
Margaret was married to Daniel for 55 years and her greatest joy was being matriarch to her family. She ensured her home was always clean and spotless. She worked tirelessly in the home to ensure things ran smoothly. She was always up before the sun and breakfast was always ready before we would leave the house. Everything she did was done to her very best and her attention to detail was evident. She embraced loving her family. She ensured no one left her table hungry. Her baking was delicious and her pies were amazing.
She thrived on seeing her children evolve and she supported them as they grew. She was proud to see her children have careers and then marry.
She worked over 25 years as the school secretary at St. Patrick’s School, and if you asked her why, the answer was because she loved the children.
Her energy was something to marvel. Up every single day with enthusiasm. She loved walking everywhere. Some of her hobbies included going to exercise classes, taking day trips on the bus, attending the theatre and watching curling on TV.
Mom and dad were fortunate enough to travel. They had a pop-up trailer that they used in summers to take us throughout Canada. Eventually they progressed to a larger trailer and then a home in Florida. The winters were difficult for mom when she was south because she missed seeing the lights of her world – her growing grandchildren. But these children knew where ever grandma was, her love was unwavering.
In the last few years, she spent her days at Fairview Suites. She made friends there and even as she was slowing down, she still enjoyed activities like wii bowling, drum jam, chair yoga, day bus trips and walking.
Mom graced each day with a prayerful heart, love for all and endless energy. The rock of our family will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider making a donation in her memory to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
