It is with great sadness that the family of Maria Jose Resendes announces her passing on February 6th, 2019 at the age of 87. Maria passed away at Cambridge Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Predeceased by her husband late Antonio Resendes (1970), parents late Jose and Maria Resendes, and four siblings. Beloved mother of Marylou Castro (Carlos), Anna Melo (Louis), Joe Resendes (Sue), and George Resendes (Nancy). Devoted grandmother of Jeff Castro (Shannon), Bryan Melo, Tanya Gustin (Ivan), Scott Castro (Amanda), Kyle Melo (Jaqueline), Jocelyn Resendes, Jayde Resendes, Jenna Resendes, Jacob Resendes, and Tiago Resendes. Loving great-grandmother of Matteo Castro, Ava Castro, Azleah Melo, Ravenna Gustin, Alessia Melo, and Quentin Gustin. Maria will also be missed by many other friends and family members. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 10th from 5-9pm at Coutts Funeral Home and Cremation Centre- 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge, ON. Prayers will begin at 8pm. Funeral service to be held on Monday, February 11th at 11am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with burial to follow at Mountview Cemetery. A reception will be held at 1:30pm located at the Portuguese Club of Cambridge. Donations towards Alzheimer’s Society Waterloo Wellington, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated by the family.
