With more sadness that words could ever convey, daughters Melissa and Robyn had to say so long, to their first and best friend, their Mommymoo.
On October 4, 1939, much to the jealous dismay, of older adoring brother Ron Pett (2013), Marlene Marie Theresa Pett was born in Hamilton, ON to loving parents William Pett (1953) and Marjorie Pett (1988).
Being smart came easily to Marlene. Starting Saltfleet High School at the innocent age of 12 & with her natural pettiness she earned the nickname Mouse. With a memory that would shame an elephant, the talent to spell any word quicker than you could say dictionary, math skills that rivaled a super calculator, she would weekly defeat contestants on Jeopardy.
Marlene was so beautiful; inside and out. Proud, not vain, humble and brave, with an envious quiet inner strength. She measured people by their best moments, not their worst. Slow to judge others and always quick to smile at herself. Forever welcoming, she always had time for family and friends; no matter how much time had passed. She truly listened, hearing what you meant, not just what you said. Breaking promises was never done, saying goodbye was never said; a word not in her vocabulary, nor in her heart. So very appreciative of the simple things and savoring the finer things, especially if they were on sale!
Loving was never difficult; with Marlene eager to prove that she loved you more. Her two daughters and cherished granddaughter were her true joy and her greatest loves. Never letting the sun set without ensuring they knew how much they were loved. They were her everything and she theirs.
Marlene's warm, compassionate, loving spirit will be greatly missed but will always live on brightly in the hearts of her brother Jim Pett (Darlene), daughters Melissa Polischuk (Bradley), Robyn Wright (Darrell McGilveary),cherished granddaughter, Haven Polischuk, her fur baby Tessa; and many nieces, nephews in-laws and friends, too numerous to list but not forgotten.
In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you carry out an unexpected, unsolicited act of kindness to a stranger or a friend, in Marlene’s memory.
We invite all those who knew and loved Marlene to join us in celebrating her wonderful life on Sunday September 20th from 2-4pm at Dickie Settlement School House, 1746 Roseville Road, Cambridge, Ontario.
