Mary "Molly" Irene MacLeod

28 mayo, 1935 – 29 noviembre, 2025
Obituario de Mary "Molly" Irene MacLeod
EN EL CUIDADO DE

T. Little Funeral Home & Cremation Centre

Mary Irene (Molly) Macleod, age 90, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 29, 2025 after a brief illness. The snow was falling in the garden outside the big window of her room at Sunnyside Home in Kitchener.

Molly was the youngest of five children born on May 28, 1935 to Russell and Mary Macleod of Cambridge (formerly Preston). On the wall of her room was a set of small portraits, taken over 70 years ago, that included herself as well as her brothers and sister: Don, Marjorie (Oldfield), John (who she called Jack) and Andy (who survives her).

Molly was the mother of four children: Andrew, Wayne and Ross Ridsdale and Susan Prange.

Although some of her children became scattered across Canada and the US; she managed to have many family get-togethers. There were noisy Christmas parties crowded with her children, their spouses, and her seven grandchildren along with other friends. She also traveled to visit her kids and help out with her grandchildren as they came into the world.

She had a summer place at "Harmony Ranch" where kids and grandkids visited for swimming and evening campfires and where she had many long-time friends.

Molly spent many hours reading, devouring hundreds of novels. She liked to knit/crochet - producing "Afghan" blankets that still keep her family warm. She was a good card player and was active at the Galt Curling Club for a number of years.

Molly lived on her own at a small place in the country near Guelph for over 20 years. Ten years ago, as her memory failed her, she moved to the Preston School Apartments which is in the same building where she attended school as a young girl. There, she was a few minutes walk from Wayne who, with his wife Robin, helped take care of her as she became less able to take care of herself. In May 2024 she moved to Sunnyside Home. She was mobile and loved to talk and tell stories. Until the last couple of days she was engaged with those around her including visits from kids, grandkids and significant others. Her stories often were about her first summer job as a lifeguard at Ed Newland's pool in Preston or of her siblings prompted by their portraits. At Sunnyside she wasn't alone as much anymore and had friends around to talk to. She liked it there and said that the food was good.

Her family is very thankful to the staff at the Buttonworks area at Sunnyside for the great care they gave Molly.
