Ruby is now reunited with her beloved husband, Robert “Bob”, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years of marriage.
She was a loving and devoted mother to Robert “Bob” (Carolyn), Darlene (Tom) McKay, and Denise (Dave) Brand. Cherished Nana to Kyle (Kristin), Amber, Sean, and Caitlin, and treasured Great-Nana to Jordan and Ellie.
Ruby is survived by her brothers Morton (Doris), Wayne, and Dale, and by her sister-in-law, Claire. She will be forever remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Byron and Lorinda; her granddaughter, Victoria; her brother, Wilson; and her special dog, Kiesha.
Born in Nova Scotia, Ruby showed remarkable courage and independence when, at just 18 years old, she moved to Ontario on her own in search of employment, as opportunities were scarce back home. It was here that she met her future husband, who was originally from Newfoundland and Labrador.
Ruby was very proud of her career as a Nurse’s Assistant at Sunnybrook Hospital. She was also a devoted and active member of Trinity Anglican Church, which held great importance in her life. She served on the church’s social committee and especially loved making sandwiches for church receptions.
Ruby enjoyed shopping and, most of all, spending time with her family, who meant everything to her.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrew Street, Cambridge, on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 12 Blair Road, Cambridge, on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to immediately follow in the church hall.
Fond memories may be shared, and donations to Waterloo Regional Health Network Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Ontario would be greatly appreciated.
