Sophia was a devoted mother to Steve (Theodora) and is now reunited with her eldest son, Fred (Koula), who passed away in October 2025. She will be lovingly remembered by her cherished grandchildren Sophia, Rina, Dimitri, and Amelia. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of many extended family members and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Sophia now joins her beloved husband, James Malatches, who predeceased her in 2013. Married in 1962, Sophia and James shared a beautiful life together, built on love, laughter, and family.
Born in Greece in 1940, Sophia emigrated to Canada in 1956, embracing a new life with courage and grace. Her sons were the light of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to share how proud she was of them. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who were her greatest joy.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, December 9th, at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge. Visitation will take place from 2:00–4:00 pm and 7:00–9:00 pm.
