Surrounded by his loving family and serenaded by his favourite music, he passed away peacefully on March 20, 2016. Scott was born in Brantford in 1950; lived in various Airforce bases throughout Canada in his childhood; and settled in Cambridge in 1974. He worked many years at Massey Ferguson in Brantford, and was one of the original employees of Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Cambridge retiring in 2010.
Scott leaves to mourn his best friend, 'travel buddy' and wife of 44 years Alana (MacKinnon). He was a fiercely proud and devoted Pa to his three beautiful daughters and three amazing sons in law, Sarah (Mike Forbes) of Guelph, Kailey (Kyle Cleaver) of Kitchener and Jessie (Jonathan Lourenco) of Oshawa. Adored Papa to Seth, Will and Ellie. He is survived by four sisters: Cheryle (Joe Brown) of Brantford, Vicki (Jack Carson) of Priceville, Debbie (Bruce Odell) of Markdale and Catherine of Oshawa. Other grieving family are his father in law and brother in law, John and Keith MacKinnon of Flesherton, cousin Leslie Hawthorn of Brantford and many nieces and nephews.
He was a big man with huge hands and an even bigger heart. He was humble, generous, imaginative and humorous. He made friends where ever he went and many 'adopted' family called him 'Father Scott' or 'Scotto'. He was always willing to lend a hand or “make a long story short”. Scott was an ace golfer, a talented woodworker and an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. Alana and Scott enjoyed travelling throughout Canada and Europe, and spending time with family and friends at their Lake Huron cottage.
Private family internment in Brantford. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 16th from 5pm-12am at Northridge Golf Course, 320 Balmoral Drive, Brantford.
As expressions of sympathy please consider registering as an organ donor (beadonor.ca) and/or donations to the Canadian Wildlife Federation in Scott's name.
