Douglas “Boo” Michael Pettit, 55, of Harrisburg, Pa., passed away on December 19, 2024. He was born on December 31, 1968, in West Chester, Pa., to Edward William and Judith Diane (Scheibe) Pettit. Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Judith; his mother-in-law, Diane Veronikis; and his brother-in-law, Steven Veronikis.
Doug was a U.S. Navy Veteran who proudly served his country.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rachelle Veronikis-Pettit; his father-in-law, Dennis Veronikis; his brother-in-law, Eric Veronikis, and his wife, Emily, and their children, Sophia and Ethan; his sister-in-law, Karen Veronikis; his niece, Kaitlyn McGovern, and her husband, Evan; his nephew, Steven Veronikis; his sister, Cathy Carl, and her husband, John; and his sister, Barbara DeSantis, and her husband, Joe. Doug is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
Doug had a sharp sense of humor, filled with sarcasm and wit, which was most evident in the playful exchanges he shared with his father-in-law, Dennis. He was also kind and always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. To know Doug was to love him. His down-to-earth personality made him easy to connect with.
Doug cherished spending time with his best friend and wife, Rachelle, family, and friends. He loved traveling and meticulously caring for his home, lawn, and pets, Oliver and Tuffy. His greatest passion, however, was his wife, Rachelle, whom he adored and doted on daily. Together, they traveled the world, visiting destinations such as Paris, France, Greece, and, most recently, London, England—memories that will be cherished forever.
A memorial service to celebrate Doug's life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 12 p.m. at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg, Pa. 17111. A visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
