

Elizabeth “Bette” Aversa, of Camp Hill, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 21, 2016, in Holy Spirit Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Old Forge, PA, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Delaney Grill. She was a graduate of Old Forge High School, attended Marywood Seminary in Scranton, and was a graduate of the American Academy of the Dramatic Arts in New York City. Bette worked for U.S. Congressman William Scranton and later served as his appointment secretary during his governorship of PA. Bette attended cooking schools in Italy and France, eventually opening and operating her own cooking school and retail kitchen shop, One Potato Two Potato, from 1972-1984. World renowned chefs came to share their expertise at her cooking school. Bette served on the board of The Homeland Center for thirteen years and volunteered for numerous community organizations. She was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where she was actively involved with the Helping Hands committee. In addition to lending her time helping others, Bette enjoyed entertaining, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. Known as Mom Mom to her grandchildren, her greatest joy was spending time with them. She is survived by her husband Gregg R. Aversa of Camp Hill, daughter Jill and son-in-law Chris of Mechanicsburg, daughter Amy of New York City, sister, Judy, brothers, Tom and Lewis, and grandchildren Kelsey, Christian, William, Andrew, and Alexandra. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 am Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, with a visitation at the church from 10:00am to 11:30 am, prior to mass. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it was Bette’s request that contributions be made to The Kidney Foundation of Central Pennsylvania and to the Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
