Janice Elder Rittner

Janice Annette Elder Rittner, 75, of Enola passed away at home, surrounded by family, on Monday, August 1, 2016, after a 3-1/2 year battle against breast cancer. She was born August 31,1940 in Burnham, PA, daughter of the late William Banks and Annette Grace (Riden) Elder. A graduate of Chief Logan High School in Lewistown, PA and Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing (class of 1961), Janice had a long career as a registered nurse at Polyclinic Hospital, Holy Spirit Hospital and The Harrisburg State Hospital, before retiring in 2005. She cared deeply about her family, her friends, and her farm. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and the Garden Club of Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Liborio Rittner, brothers William Kenneth Elder, James Robert Elder and Ronald Dunn Elder. She is survived by her children, Gretchen and her husband Jim McLeish of McLean, VA, Ernest II and his wife Monica Rittner of Reno, NV and Jeffrey Rittner and Tammy Rutz of Mechanicsburg, PA, her brother Gerald and his wife Judy Elder of Lewistown, PA and her grandchildren James & William McLeish and Ernest III and Ethan Rittner.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Enola. Memorial donations in her name may be made to the Joseph T. Simpson Public Library, Mechanicsburg, PA or the Garden Club of Harrisburg.
