It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Thomas Craig on March 31, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in New York City, John and his younger brother Steven were raised by their parents, John and Toni Craig. They lived in Washington Heights in a brownstone house occupied by two families, the Craigs and the Joneses: Aunt Mary, Uncle Albie, and their children, Albie, Joey, and Theresa –who were more like brothers and sisters than cousins. John and Steven attended St Elizabeth’s School across the street from where they lived.
In 1961, the Craig family moved to Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. There the kids attended Good Shepherd Elementary and Trinity High School. Popular in school, John was as gifted artistically as he was academically. A self-taught pianist, his talent earned him a place at Catholic University School of Music. After college he married briefly, with no children.
John’s career was defined by a lifelong fascination with computers and systems programming, a journey that took him from Washington, D.C. and Colorado Springs to New Orleans before he eventually returned home to Camp Hill to spend his later years with friends, especially his dear friend, Joe Fechter.
Yet John’s true legacy is his character. A quintessential gentleman, he struck everyone he met with his friendly charm and gentle spirit. Always engaging, he possessed a quick and playful wit, never failing to spark laughter at the family dinner table or in everyday conversation.
John is survived by his brother Steven and his spouse Laurie Craig, and their son (John’s nephew), Sean Craig; and by many loving cousins, including Theresa Feinstein and Daryl, Lynn, and Patrice Tirado, and Cindy Hennig, along with the entire Tirado, Scaperotta, Feinstein, and Hennig families. He leaves behind a void filled only with the memory of his gentle voice and kind heart.
