Rachel M Dailey, 85, passed away comfortably at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill PA on July 19, 2012. She was born in Harrisburg to the late Gabriel and Gelorma (Talia) Lucisano. The last of her generation in the family, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, her brother, Augustus Lucisano, and her two sisters, Sandra Secor and Theresa (Mickie) Lucisana . She leaves behind her nieces and nephew, Brenda Tusing, Gabriel Lucisano, Gail Gillis, Sharon Lucisano; eight great nieces and nephews, two great great nieces and a nephew and an extended family of cousins.
Rachel was often outspoken and always quick witted. While married to Ken, she took great pleasure dressing her miniature poodles for the holidays, collecting porcelain dolls and playing keyboard and drums. She loved entertaining in her home. She had her family there often for holidays and birthday parties or just for the sake of getting together. Her nieces and nephew remember the sleepovers and her famous all-you-could-eat silver dollar pancake breakfasts.
Rachel began working at a young age at the Harrisburg movie theater. She also worked for Blake Cadillac, Harris, Commerce, Waypoint and Mellon Bank, from where she retired. Later she worked at Festival Foods. Except for one year in Utah, Rachel lived in Harrisburg all but the last six years of her life, when she moved to Country Meadows in Mechanicsburg with her sister, Mickie. Inseparable, others thought they were having a party the day they planned their funerals, laughing with their good friend from the funeral home.
Rachel’s handwritten note requested others consider making a memorial contribution to Saint Catherine Laboure Church or to simply offer a prayer in her memory. She also requested no viewing and a simple service at the convenience of the family. Interment will be private. A memorial mass will follow and will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday, August 18, 2012 in St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church 4000 Derry Street Harrisburg. Visitation with the family will be at the Church from 10:00 to time of service, followed by a luncheon in St. Catherine’s Leo Hall.
