Norma Cronkite

Tuesday, February 28th, 2012 at the Campbellton Village Nursing Home in her 91 year passed away Mrs. Norma Cronkite of Campbellton, wife of late Mr. Carl Cronkite.  Born in Broadlands, Quebec, she was the daughter of the late Georgiana Dickson and late Hilton McKinley.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Ann Firlotte (Arnold) of Campbellton, Carl R. (Randy) Cronkite of Campbellton; her grandchildren: Steven Firlotte of Whistler, B.C., Stacy Firlotte of Moncton; her great grandchildren: Emma-Jane Firlotte of Vernon, B.C., Joshua Radziewicz of Sarnia, Ont.; her brother & sister: Grant McKinley of Port Elgin, NB & Eileen Scarlett (Art) of Reno, Nevada.  She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Carl, her parents and brothers: Edgar & Dave.

Norma had a very busy and active life.  She volunteered her time making suppers at the Legion.  She worked with the guild at the Church and went to the Village almost daily to visit with the ‘Old Folks’ – most were younger than her.

In 2006, Norma received the New Brunswick Association of Nursing Homes Volunteer Service Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution at the Campbellton Village Nursing Home.

Norma travelled in Canada and the US – she rarely missed a tour bus leaving Campbellton.  She spend many days with her sister Eileen and her husband Art in Arizona and loved visiting her brother Grant and his family.

Norma never missed sending cards to all her family and friends on their birthdays or special occasions.  This past Christmas, she even did her own cards.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 2nd, 2012 at 11 am in the Christ Church Anglican, Campbellton and will be officiate by Rev. Michael O'Hara with burial in the Campbellton Rural Cemetery in the spring.  Visitations will be held on Thursday, March 1st, 2012 from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm.  A donation to the Christ Church Anglican Fund would be greatly appreciated by the family.
