René A. Cormier

C’est avec une grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de M. René Cormier, survenu le jeudi 29 mai 2025 à l’Hôpital Régional de Campbellton. Il avait 83 ans et était un homme profondément aimé et respecté. Il rejoint sa chère épouse, feu Elizabeth Viola (Byram) Cormier, qu’il a tant aimée.

René est né à St-Léonard le 29 mars 1942, fils d’Alfred S. Cormier et de Bibiane (Sirois) Cormier, tous deux partis avant lui. Son départ laisse un vide immense dans la vie de ceux qui l’ont connu et aimé. Il était un père dévoué à ses enfants: Gerard (Janet Goudreau), Joanne, et Marcel, qui nous a quittés bien trop tôt en 1997 à l’âge de 32 ans. Son amour pour sa famille s’étendait à ses six petits-enfants: Isabelle (Corey), Brigitte (Erik), Nikki, Gabby, Jacob et Noah, ainsi qu’à ses deux arrière-petits-enfants, Theo et Luna, qui faisaient briller ses yeux de bonheur. Il laisse aussi dans le deuil ses deux frères Jean-Guy et Donat, de nombreux neveux et nièces, ainsi qu’une amie spéciale, Thérèse. Tous ont été marqués par son amour et son esprit généreux.

Passionné et dévoué, René a consacré plusieurs années de sa vie à l’enseignement, laissant une empreinte indélébile sur ses élèves et collègues. En dehors de sa carrière, il trouvait du bonheur dans les choses simples: jardiner, suivre son sport préféré, le hockey, et profiter des plaisirs de la chasse et de la pêche.

Les funérailles auront lieu en l’Église Notre-Dame-des-Neiges de Campbellton, le jeudi 5 juin 2025 à 15h00. La famille accueillera parents et amis au Salon funéraire Savoie, 47 rue Alexander, Campbellton, à partir de 13h00, jusqu’au départ pour les funérailles.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. René Cormier, on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital. He was 83 years old and was a deeply loved and respected man. He joins his beloved wife, the late Elizabeth Viola (Byram) Cormier.

René was born in St-Léonard on March 29, 1942, the son of Alfred S. Cormier and Bibiane (Sirois) Cormier, both of whom predeceased him. His passing leaves a huge void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He was a devoted father to his children: Gerard (Janet Goudreau), Joanne, and Marcel, who left us far too soon in 1997 at the age of 32. His love for his family extended to his six grandchildren: Isabelle (Corey), Brigitte (Erik), Nikki, Gabby, Jacob and Noah, and to his two great-grandchildren, Theo and Luna, who made his eyes shine with happiness. He is also survived by his two brothers Jean-Guy and Donat, numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Thérèse. All were touched by his love and generous spirit.

Passionate and dedicated, René devoted many years of his life to teaching, leaving an indelible mark on his students and colleagues. Outside his career, he found happiness in simple things: gardening, following his favourite sport, hockey, and enjoying the pleasures of hunting and fishing.

Funeral service will be held at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Church, Campbellton, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Savoie Funeral Home, 47 Alexander Street, Campbellton, from 1:00 p.m. until departure for the funeral.

For those who wish, donations in his memory may be made to the Pulmonary Association.
