Carl Lonzo Collins passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018. He graduated from Jackson Memorial high school in Massillon, Ohio. He then went on to a career in retail management. His last job was working for Tuesday Morning in Dallas, TX where he made his coworkers and customers his family. Carl retired and moved out to Los Angeles in 2015. In LA, Carl loved to volunteer for charities with his two best friends, Debra and Leland. For the last two years of his life he was a part time caretaker to his grandson, Axel. The two of them enjoyed hanging out at the mall where they made many friends.
Carl was a vessel of inspiration, joy, humility, and laughter. His love of life and passion for other people could be sensed within moments of meeting him. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and anyone who had the opportunity to know him.
He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Collins, her husband Keith Foglesong and their son Axel Foglesong, his son Christopher Collins and his wife Macy Collins, his former wife and good friend, Diana Montiso, his brother, Rick Collins and his wife Karen Collins.
He is preceded in death by both of his mothers, Marlyn Bolyard and Dorothy Collins, his father Carl Everett Collins, his sister Judy Boulder, his best friend Chris Pope, and his beloved dog, Calvin.
Carl loved flowers, so he wouldn’t turn them down, but he also loved giving to others, so if you prefer to make a donation in his name, please consider giving to Aids Project LA. Information on how to make a tribute gift can be found on their website aplahealth.org.
