

On the morning of October 29, 2015, Elsie passed away peacefully at her home in Woodland Hills, CA surrounded by her family after battling for years Alzheimer and Dementia disease. Elsie was 81 years old.
Elsie Sweeney was born in Providence, Rhode Island on August 14, 1934. She was the first daughter of Ella DePasquale Brewster and Herbert Brewster.
After graduating nursing school to become an R.N., Elsie and her husband, John, moved to Texas for 5 years and then California. Elsie also received a Master’s Degree in Nursing from UCLA School of Nursing. For over 60 years, Elsie devoted her live to helping and caring for others and spent much of her career in Public Health. One of her greatest and most treasured accomplishments was to co-author the book, “History of the UCLA School of Nursing”. Elsie also cherished her family and grandchildren.
Elsie Sweeney is survived by her beloved husband, John of 59 years, daughters Ellen Marano, Susan Elton, Elizabeth Polito, sons Steven and Robert Sweeney, daughter-in-law Kathryn Sweeney, sons-in-law Damino Marano and John Polito, grandchildren John and Michael Elton, Tina Polito, Megan and John Paul Sweeney, Vanessa and Laura Marano, and Lauren, Sean, and Joseph Sweeney.
Mass Services will be held on Tuesday, November 3 at 10:30a.m at St Mel Catholic Church in Woodland Hills, CA.
