

Jessie James "Boot" Dupree, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 81 on June 7, 2024, at 6:35 AM at the Tarzana Rehabilitation Center. He was born on September 26, 1942, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Charlie Frank Dupree and Elizabeth Allen.
From an early age, James accepted Jesus Christ into his life and attended Catholic school during his formative years. After attending Parker High School, James migrated to Rockford, Illinois, where he met and married Victoria Tilson (deceased). To that union, one child was born, James Dupree Jr.
He later returned to Birmingham, where he met and married his wife of 44 years, Sherrilyn Marzette. To that union, two children were born, Teirney and Jesse. Together, they moved to the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, California, where they built a loving family life.
James had four children: James Dupree Jr. (deceased), Angela Allen, Teirney Smith, and Jesse Jaymarzette Dupree. He also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Savon Dupree, Isabella Fields, Langston Dupree, Prince Michael Harris, Prince Dominique Abreu, Zaiden Jay Dupree, and Alishell Smith, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
James had five siblings: Charles Webb "Sonny Boy" (deceased), Mary Sherrill, Debra Parham, Elton Allen (deceased), and Glen Allen. James was a people person, known for his love of music, dancing, sports, and family. James made friends everywhere he went. His sense of humor, infectious laugh, and wide, welcoming smile endeared him to many.
During his working life, James was dedicated to the field of construction, with a specialization in piping and fitting. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish "JD Fence Company," after which he continued his career as a valued member of the Laborers Union in Los Angeles.
James's legacy is one of love, laughter, and dedication. His memory will be eternally cherished by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, siblings, grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends and extended family.
