
Jon Lee Boyce, Princeville, Kauai, formerly of Oceanside, California, flew to heaven on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. His funeral service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Gates, Kingsley and Gates Praiswater Mortuary in Canoga Park, California with a small graveside service to follow at Oakwood Memorial Park and Cemetery in Chatsworth, California. The service will be officiated by Pastor Gary Mejia.
Jon was born December 6, 1957 to TWA Captain Edwin S. and Pauline (Ramer) Boyce in Northridge, California. Upon his arrival at home, he was welcomed by his 9 year-old sister, Jane and 5 year-old brother, Gene.
Jon met his soulmate, Jolene (Syverson) Boyce, on July 2, 2001 at a coffee shop in San Marcos, California. They were later married in a Hawaiian ceremony on October 20, 2007. Together they lived in Oceanside, California until they fulfilled his dream to move to Princeville, Kauai in 2013.
Jon competed in pole vaulting for Royal High School and Moorpark College. He became a pilot for American Airlines in 1987 where he remained for 36 years. While living in Kauai his hobbies included swimming and snorkeling at Anini Beach, riding his beloved mini-bike to Starbucks, and making breakfast for the love of his life. Jon was a Christian all his life but was reaffirmed by Lighthouse Christian Fellowship in Kauai. He cultivated lifelong friendships in every stage of his life. He truly was one of the friendliest souls and loved to make others laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Jolene; his daughters, Cassidy Moyes (Jonathan), Holly Springs, NC and Ashley McCoy (Jacob), Holly Springs, NC; step-daughters Jessica (Nehk) Vanesler (Micah), Edmund, OK and Kristen Nehk, Little Rock, AR; grandchildren, Allen McCoy, Noah Moyes, and Maverick McCoy; step-grandchildren, Madison Vanesler, Raegan Vanesler, Riley Nehk, Jolynn Jones, and Colby Jones; father-in-law, Orlando Syverson; sister-in-law Joyce (Syverson) Baker (Ken); cousin, Glenn Glatfelter (Carol); nephew, Geoffrey Kimball; and niece, Samantha (Boyce) Foresee.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edwin S. Boyce; mother, Pauline (Ramer) Boyce; sister, Katharine Jane Boyce Kimball; brother, Gene Boyce; and mother-in-law, Ardella (Draeger) Syverson.
We'll love you forever, we'll like you for always, as long as we're living, our Daddy you'll be.
