

Oscar was born in Roma, TX on Feb.18, 1955. He was the eldest of 6 children born to Oscar and Emma Hinojosa.
Oscar grew up in Canoga Park, CA graduating from Canoga Park High School in 1972. While in high school, one of his hobbies was figuring out how various electronics worked. He would trouble shoot and rebuild radios, CB’s and T.V’s. That hobby would evolve into a 33 year career with the federal government.
In 1976 Oscar enlisted in the Navy. While serving our country in submarine service, he also received his degree in engineering.
In 1982 he entered Civil Service. He built his career for the next 26 years as a Combat Systems expert with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Dept. of Defense. Oscars career was primarily in Science and Technology where he would support the research, development and testing for Navy ship systems.
Protecting our country for 33 years, Oscar was a part of numerous historical events, one such event was the after math of 9/11.
Oscar was proud to serve our country and took great pride in his work as evidenced in the numerous letters of appreciation, Performance awards, Special Act awards and Service awards he received thru out his career.
Oscar had an adventurous spirit. He had a passion for scuba diving, exploring sunken ships in all parts of the world. He also enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time camping, dirt bike riding and target shooting with his wide collection of guns. Oscar took immense pleasure spending time with his family and friends.
Oscar is survived by his 5 siblings and their families. Sister, Maria Hinojosa, Greg Arnold, and her son Frank Enriquez. Brother Orlando, his wife Kim and their children Robert, Courtney and Samuel. Brother Ruben, his wife Lisa and their children Andrew, Nicole and Wyatt. Brother Eloy and Sister Edith.
Oscar was reunited in heaven with is parents
Funeral Mass will be held Friday Sept.9th from 10am-11am at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Graveside service with Military Honors will immediately follow at Oakwood Memorial Park, Chatsworth
