

Robert Wayne Norvet passed away on April 19, 2012 at Tarzana Providence Hospital, surrounded by family. He was 89. He was born in Forest City, Iowa in August, 1922 to Rasmus Torvald Norvet and Sarah Gettis Norvet. He had two sisters, Delilah and Leota, and a brother, Donald, all deceased. He served as a Marine Corps. Captain in WWII and received the Bronze Star during the Battle of Okinawa. He attended Grinnell College in Iowa, where he met Mary Alice Engen, of Downers Grove Illinois, and the two were wed in 1949. They moved to Los Angeles where he worked briefly for Daily Variety before landing a job at M.G.M in the publicity department. In 1960 he took a job with CBS, and convinced CBS to purchase the Republic Studios, which later became CBS Studio Center. He became VP of Facilities, and later had a building named after him on the lot. In 1990, he retired in Oceanside in the community of St. Malo. The last years of his life he spent at Motion Picture Country
Home. He is survived by sons Jeffrey, John and three grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for May 12, 2012 at St Paul’s Methodist Church in Tarzana at 10:00am. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Paul’s or The Motion Picture and Television Fund, designating the Resident Support Fund.
