He attended all Catholic schools through High School, and as a teen developed
his love of cars.
A little-known fact is that he built and raced his own stock cars in the Chicagoland
area for many years. He met Bonnie (at Sycamore Raceway) in 1964 and
married in 1968.He started working for General Motors (MIC-insurance division)
in 1966 and to appease his love of California, was able to transfer there in 1969
as an insurance adjuster, later as Claims Supervisor. He accepted an early
retirement in 1990 (due to office closing and not wanting to move to Texas). He then
worked per diem for GM at San Pedro Shipyards to inspect shiploads of cars from
Hawaii rentals to send off all over the county for sale. After a few years, he then worked
with local car dealers sales-- not sure when he finally stopped, and worked
around the house and yard, became a professional pool floater, and would meet
up with some friends for happy hour.He enjoyed traveling (recently AZ and cruising),
but his third love was Mexico.
We went all over the country, at least once a year since 1970, and finally bought
a house in Cabo San Lucas, and had many friends there. He belonged to the
Canoga Park Elks Lodge and enjoyed many dinners, festivities and functions over the
years, and also visited with friends at the DAV and VFW (and more).
He leaves behind his wife Bonnie of 48 years, a brother and 2 sisters, 9 nieces and
nephews, and 9-great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was a quiet Man and will be missed by many.
