Arlene is survived by her beloved William (Bill) Price. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Morey Perlmutter and her brother Edward Resnick. She was very proud of her family and was excited to become a grandmother and great-grandmother. Arlene was the devoted and loving mother of Stephen Scherer and his wife Koray, Laurie Levine and her husband Steven, David Scherer and his fiancé Julie Campanella, and Leslie Scherer. The adored grandmother of April Scherer and husband Eddie Kim, Jason and Douglas Levine, Marisa and Michael Scherer, and delighted in being a great-grandmother to Stella Kim. Arlene is also survived by stepson David Perlmutter, nephew Adam Resnick, niece Rachel Resnick, their families and many cousins.
Arlene was born on February 17, 1933 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Albert and Lillian (Newman) Resnick-Cook. She was an accomplished professional, graduating from Northeastern University and joining Information Technology departments at AT&T, M.I.T. and BBN. Arlene loved holiday get-togethers; one of her greatest passions was to cook for and spend time with her family. She was an avid reader, music enthusiast, animal lover and worldly traveler. She involved herself in the civil rights movement, volunteered for the League of Woman’s Voters, was a long-time congregant of Temple Ohabei Shalom, Brookline and was a former MENSA member.
Funeral services will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA on Monday, November 12th at 12 Noon, followed by burial at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, MA. The family will be sitting Shiva at Temple Etz Chaim, 900 Washington Street, Franklin, MA on Monday and Tuesday from 6 to 8:30 PM at 37 Crescent Street, Franklin with minion at 7:30 PM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Arlene’s life.
