Although she lived in Florida since 2000, Boston was in her blood. She was born in the West End and raised her four children in Stoughton, where she was a well-known member of the community. She was co-owner of Toys on Board in Stoughton for seven years, and after closing the store, she remained in the toy business as a personal shopper at the famous FAO Schwarz in Boston – a job she loved and was proud of. She didn’t define her family by only those she was related to – her friends’ children and her children’s friends were treated as her own (for better or for worse).
Arlene was a devoted mother of Robert Shalit and his partner George O’Neill of Chicago, Steven Shalit of New Orleans, David Shalit and his wife Susan of Grayslake, IL, and Pamela Ardila and her husband Jose of Maynard. Loving sister of the late Sylvia Kaplan, the late Melvin Berger, and the late George Kubitsky. Daughter of the late Rose Berger Kubitsky and the late Louis Kubitsky. Cherished grandmother of Daniel, Emily, Amanda, Gabriel, and Katelyn, and beloved aunt to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
