

Beverly Mitlin, age 93, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, longtime resident of Long Island, NY, then of St. Petersburg, FL, and recently of Canton, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2021.
Loving and beloved wife for 68 years of the late Ira Mitlin; loving and beloved mother of Marjorie Mitlin (Steven Bloom) of Sharon, MA, and the late Robert Mitlin of St. Petersburg, FL; adoring and cherished grandmother of Rachel Bloom (Dan DiCenzo) and Daniel Bloom (Laura Goodman); doting great-grandmother of Doug, Devon, and Dylan DiCenzo; and dear friend to many. Beverly had a varied professional career, including real estate, elder care management, and fundraising, and she earned her bachelor’s degree at age 48 at Empire State College. She served the St. Petersburg community in numerous ways, spanning local government, the arts, and health care. She was an active member of Temple Beth-El and a long-time volunteer at All Children’s Hospital. Beverly was a political activist, outspoken about many progressive causes and an advocate for social justice. She played a leadership role as a member of the Suncoast Tiger Bay Club, chairing the committee that planned its speaker series for many years. Avid lovers and patrons of the arts, Beverly and Ira were instrumental in the explosion of the arts scene in St. Petersburg and the renaissance of the city. Beverly was a force for good.
