Born in Brooklyn, NY, Elaine was a proud Brooklyn girl, even after more than fifty years of living in Massachusetts. After completing her Bachelor's Degree at Brooklyn College, Elaine moved to Boston to pursue her Master's Degree in Education. When her classes conflicted with her gigs as a member of the band Daydream, the choice became clear and her love of music prevailed. Thus began her Massachusetts life, always centered on her love of music and children. As the longtime Assistant to the Principal at East Elementary School in Sharon, MA, her daily duties were always paused to celebrate a child’s birthday with an in-office song and dance.
The favorite daughter of Lillian and Milton Prerau, Elaine is survived by her loving husband Larry, son Matthew, son-in-law Jean-René, granddaughter Ashleigh, brother and sister-in-law David and Gail Prerau, nephew Michael Prerau and his family, her sister-at-heart Sharon Foy and her beloved dog Lily.
A memorial service will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton MA 02021, at 1 pm on Wednesday, July 26 and live streamed at https://tinyurl.com/Elaine-N-Levison
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Elaine’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family will be sitting shiva following the service until 6 pm and Thursday, July 27 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Elaine's home.
