Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Leo and Mollie (Koltz) Meiselman. He graduated from Boston Latin School, University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School of business). He served his country in the Army National Guard.
Gerald started his career at Ernst & Ernst accounting firm and quickly passed his CPA exam. He later worked for Boston Organ & Piano and then Thom McAn shoes as their Head Accountant.
Beloved father of Stephanie Meiselman, Julie Fowler and Jennifer Salzman. Cherished grandfather of Abigail Chikukwa and Rebecca Fowler. Loving brother of Herbert Meiselman.
He faced much adversity in his life, and yet still showed up every day. And he didn’t just show up, he did it with the warmest smile. After his car accident in 1975, doctors said that he would not walk or be able to participate in life. Gerald proved them all wrong and loved spending time with his family. His daughters remember Gerald taking them to their first Red Sox game, camping, to explore the entire Freedom Trail in Boston and cross country skiing.
Gerald always remembered birthdays, special occasions, and anniversaries. And he did it without a calendar or Facebook to remind him! Gerald loved going to his brother Herb’s house for special occasions such as Thanksgiving and was always at the family Channukkah party with a smile. Like his father, Leo, he loved to read the Wall Street Journal and carried a shirt full of pens for note taking. While Gerald never ran the Boston Marathon, he always promised ‘Next Year!’.
Gerald will be greatly missed by both is immediate family and his extended family at Hebrew Senior Life in Roslindale where he lived for 17 years. His family hopes to carry on his positive attitude toward life and smile no matter what life brings.
