Elliot Sedarbaum’s older sister was my Aunt Lenore. 
“I remember when they brought you to us, a blond haired bundle of love” she used to say when we talked down memory lane. “You were such a good baby!” She would say. 
Then I’d say, “ I am sorry I put you and my parents through so much growing up”. 
She’d reply “It’s ok honey, we go through what we go through, I’m glad that now you are doing so well. ”

When my father passed I lost my encyclopedia. Who could I turn to now? Aunt Lenore was waiting for the job, which she accepted with glee, so it seemed. The connection we had around my father, her brother was a very strong and loving bond. We knew there were no other people on this planet that loved him the way we did. 

I realized these past few days that she was a role model. I sobbed and sobbed thinking of her passing and no longer being able to call her and get a dose of love and reality. 

Yesterday during an Accupuncture session, I flew on a huge magic carpet, laying on my belly, chin on the carpet, holding onto the fringed edge above my head, All of a sudden, Aunt Lenore joined me. She laid down next to me, grabbed the edge and said “Let’s do this!” And off we went. 

When my father passed, I went to my Rabbi for solace. He said “When my father died I felt closer to him than ever because now he is with me always”. He pointed to his shoulder area. It was right then that I started to believe in angels.  

I am now hoping Nita and Judy are willing to be my encyclopedia….

What I’ll miss about my Aunt Lenore …….        I’ll miss her huge smile that lit up her face every time she saw me, along with the bear like hug that let you know how much she love you. Even over the phone you see her smile & feel her hug the minute I said hello.                                                                                   I’ll miss her quick wit & sense of humor but, never at the expense of other people.  I’ll miss her never ending curiosity about almost everything in this fast changing world , a world very different from the one she was born into.                                                  I’ll miss her optimism about the future, but always sprinkled with a touch of realism.                                                                                  I’ll miss her genuine caring way she wanted to know every detail of what was going on in my life.                                                       I’ll miss hearing the words “Miriam Dear” in that loving tone whether to praise me or admonish me.                                                           I’ll miss hearing the words I love you at the end of every conversation.                                    I feel blessed & lucky my Aunt Lenore & Uncle Milton shared their love & life with me.                                                                                       I will always love you & miss you………..

I was a young congregation member with small children when I first met her. Over the years, Lenore was always gracious, and she was a wonderful role-model to help girls become strong women.

Remembering Lenore

Energetic, graceful, and smiling,
a rebbetzin who added so much
to Knesseth Israel
in so many ways.

A dynamic, committed educator,
she helped so many youngsters
move forward,
over so many years.

We are grateful
for the time
that she lived here among us-
hers was a long life, well-lived.

My grandma has a beautiful soul. She lived during drastically changing times, from black and white tvs to smart mobile phones... and she adapted well, I managed to Skype and email her quite a bit. I loved spending time with my Savta, and my Sabba too. They loved each other dearly! A fond memory of Lenore I will cherish for the rest of my life is drinking coffee and orange juice in the morning, in their home in Stoughton. Such a calm and familial feeling,  the smell of bagels in the toaster, and smiles all around. May her memory be for a blessing.
