

Marjorie L. Asnes (Nannis) of Sharon, formerly of Braintree, passed away April 27, 2017 at the age of 80. Beloved wife of 60 years and best friend of Marvin Asnes. Loving mother to David, Peter and Mark and Mom to daughters-in-law Nancy, Sheryl and Kathleen. Devoted Nana to her grandchildren Rachel, Jordan, Max, Andrew and Lauren. Special sister to her brother Stephen Nannis and Sister-in-Law to Stephen and Linda Asnes. She lost her long battle to cancer, but showed tremendous courage, strength and dignity during her final days surrounded by her family.
Margie loved politics and was Chairman and Member of the Braintree Personnel Board for 6 years. Also, a former Braintree Town Meeting member and volunteer at the Sharon Town Clerk’s office and Council of Aging. She loved both local and state politics and would often spend time writing and calling newspapers, Senators and Congressman to share her opinions. She would always try to make those around her care more about politics and making a difference in the world.
Margie also held a variety of jobs throughout the years. She was an Instructor and Director of Public Relations for Diet Workshop. She was a Manager at the Museum Company and a member of the Board of Directors at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree. Margie was also a Member of the Braintree Cable Advisory Commission and sat on the Board of Directors of the Braintree History Society.
Her greatest joy in this world was having her grandchildren. She was often seen attending games, dance recitals, and other special moments. She was so
proud of each grandchild, loved being with them and sharing little memories and teaching moments with them.
She was a member of Temple Israel in Sharon and Ahavath Torah Congregation in Stoughton. Margie was a Past Sisterhood President and member of Temple B’nai Shalom of Braintree.
A funeral will take place on Sunday, April 30th at 2 PM at the Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street in Canton. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. There will be a Shiva at the home of Margie and Marvin from Monday through Thursday from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM & 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with evening Minyan at 7:45 PM.
Donations in Marjorie’s memory can be made to Temple Israel (Chesed Fund) in Sharon, Ahavath Torah Congregation (Levy Fund) of Stoughton or Dana Farber Cancer Institute (Lung Cancer Research).
