She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, known for her warmth, sweet smile, and infectious laughter. She married her husband, Arthur, in 1950, the beginning of a beautiful love story that lasted 70 years until his passing in 2020.
Marjorie was born on April 17, 1930, and grew up in Roxbury. She was an alumna of Simmons College, graduating at 19, and an active member of her community, first volunteering with the Women’s Scholarship Association, the PTA, and the Girl Scouts, and later working at a local adoption agency. She was a great collector of antiques, even owning her own antiquing business, with a keen eye for beauty and an impeccable sense of style. She loved little knick knacks and had a deep appreciation of American folk art. A born and bred Bay Stater, she collected sailor’s valentines, model ships, Nantucket baskets, mermaids, and other nautical tchotchkes.
Marjorie loved to travel with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She visited China, Morocco, Israel, and most of Europe, including many trips to England, where she was a lover of musicals on the West End. She always came back with gifts, often beautiful dolls for her daughters and, later, her granddaughters. She spent many winters on the Gulf Coast of Florida and summers on Cape Cod, where she was a familiar fixture on Old Silver Beach, always surrounded by family and friends, and at Smitty’s Homemade Ice Cream.

Beloved mother of Susan and husband Charles Eddy of Hingham, Peter and the late Cheryl Bliss Waxman of Charlestown, and Stephanie and husband Evan Moskovit of Westport, CT.
