The Hill family and Michael go way back: my father, Kenneth Hill, depended on Michael to furnish many of the great rarities in his collection in the 1960s and 70s.  Michael was always nice to me when I got going in the rare book trade and I really enjoyed the experience when he interviewed me in the ABAA series which he did so well.

I was sorry to learn of your Father's passing and also that your Mother previously passed.  The years go by and since I retired I lost contact with these good people.  I send the family sincere condolences.

Very sad, personally and ironically coincidental. Mike and I got connected by way of the antiquarian book trade which both of us were immersed in for many, many decades. For years, he lived in Sharon, later in life moving to South Easton.  I lived there when it was an outlier's neighborhood, during the late 50's and earlier 60's, when the area was known for farms and nearby cranberry bogs, all of it pretty much undeveloped. The fatal accident occurred a few hundred years West of where I lived on Foundry Street, when my memories got fixed into the positive framework of teenage years, of pitching hay, feeding cows and shoveling manure in barns. Of some friendships then which survive even now. But alas, I'll now remember Routes 106/123 for a sadness, too. This was an awful death. My sympathies to the family. Would that the man could have left us in a more peaceful way. - steve finer

Eric, so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing.   Knowing you a bit I'm guessing he was a terrific man.   

Michael was one of the kindest, most generous people I knew in the book trade. And his book knowledge was every bit a match for his humanity.  He was friendly and cordial wherever, whenever you might run into him - whether in the excessively formal setting of an ABBA/ILAB book fair or just browsing in Target, he was the same just really nice man.  I am indebted to him for his knowledge, help and sympathy over many years. There are certainly many, many more people who feel as I do - very grateful to have known him. 

Rest in peace, Mike, and thanks.
