Feierstein, Rabbi Milton, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015. He has been the loving husband of Lenore (Sedarbaum) for 69 years. Lenore and Milton are proud of their lovely family: three children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The children are Dr. David Ariel, professor and author; Judy Feierstein, Israeli entrepreneur (and her husband David Mencher); and Nita Aines, social worker at Orchard Cove in Canton (and her husband Ron Aines). Grandchildren are Judah Ariel, Micah Ariel, Aviva Ariel, Yoni Epstein, Raya Even-David, Rina Epstein, Stephanie Aines and Jeremy Aines and great-granddaughter, Hallel Even-David.
Milton was the youngest of five children born to the late Rabbi and Mrs. Henry Feierstein. Milton decided at age 14 that he wanted to be a Rabbi, leaving home to study at the Yeshiva. He later decided to expand his studies to include Jewish history, philosophy and thought. At the age of 22, he entered the Jewish Theological Seminary to become a conservative Rabbi.
He served congregations in East Rockaway, Buffalo, Syracuse and Gloversville, NY. He was committed to community service which included numerous interfaith, counseling, hospice and ethics boards. He was proud of his liberal education, receiving degrees from Columbia University, SUNY Buffalo (ED.D), and D.D. from the Jewish Theological Seminary. After retiring and moving from New York to Stoughton, he served Temple B’Nai Shalom in Braintree. He felt that was his best experience serving a congregation. Upon retirement, he returned to Temple Beth Abraham in Canton as a member of the congregation.
Milton was loving, gentle and dedicated to his family, friends and community. He was a critical and passionate supporter of Israel. Jewish traditions and values guided his life. He will be dearly missed.
Services will be held at Temple Beth Abraham, 1301 Washington Street, Canton on Thursday, June 4th at 11:00 AM followed by interment at Sharon Memorial Park.
Shiva will be held at Orchard Cove, Del Pond Drive, Canton on Thursday following interment until 9 PM; Friday from 12 to 3 PM; Sunday from 2 to 9 PM and at the home of Dr. David Ariel on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 9 PM.
