

Milton Green, age 98, of Newton/Dedham/West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, passed away May 6, 2018 surrounded by family. Born April 30, 1920, in Mattapan, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances Green.
Milton was a scientist, a sailor, an avid reader, and a family man. He studied Chemistry at MIT, served in the US Marine Corps in WWII, and went on to get his PhD in Organic Chemistry from Columbia University. He then enjoyed a successful 31-year career at Polaroid where, among other accomplishments, he was an integral part of the team that invented instant color film. In his spare time, Milt loved spending time with family at their home in West Yarmouth, MA, where he enjoyed swimming, sailing, sea breezes, salt air, and the tranquility of watching daily sunsets from their deck overlooking the water.
Milton is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Gertrude (Gitty) Kramer Green; four children; Debbie Green and Ed Ballis of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, Ronnie Green and Steve Mierau of Carlisle, Massachusetts, Judy Green of Needham, Massachusetts, and Jon and Karen Green of Raleigh, North Carolina; 6 grandchildren, Julia and Tyler Savage, Jessica Ballis, Stephanie Ballis, Adam Green, Emma Green, Sam Green; and 2 great-grandchildren, Zoey Savage and Henry Savage. He will also be missed by his loving caregiver, Moh Sylla, as well as his many friends and extended family.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA. Burial will follow the service at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA. Friends may visit with the family on May 10th from 2:00-4:00pm in the Copper Beach Room at NewBridge on the Charles, 7000 Great Meadow Road, Dedham, MA or on Friday, May 11th from 4:00-7:00pm at 34 Ware Road, Needham, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to American Technion Society at www.ATS.org.
