Nancy Sobel

Beloved wife of George J. Foulsham, Jr. for almost 24 years. Loving sister of Allan Sobel and his wife Phyllis. Dear aunt of Doug Sobel and his wife Jen and their children Gavin and Trevor; Jason Sobel and his wife Lisa and their children Brandon and Jake; and Cindi Geib and her husband Andy and their son Carter.

Born in New York, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Miriam (Koral) Sobel.

Nancy was a big fan of all of the popular New York Sports Teams during her youth. She came to Boston for University studies and stayed. She had enjoyed tennis in New York, so joining a tennis club here had the additional benefit of providing a social structure to meet new friends. After her marriage to George on October 12, 1998, she was eager to support professional Boston Sports Teams: Red Sox, Celtics Bruins and New England Patriots.

Nancy was, for many years, a Senior Staff Consultant in Information Technology at New England Mutual Life Insurance Company in Boston, MA before retiring and moving on to a similar role at Sun Life Insurance Company of Canada at their Wellesley, MA campus from which she retired a second time.

Nancy was adept at understanding the business needs of in-house clients, creating data models corresponding to the department's business needs in IT technical terms, generating procedures to create the IT physical databases and finally, handing off those creations to the client's technical staff for implementation.

Nancy was highly regarded at both companies, and eagerly sought out by their internal clients for her skill in understanding their business needs, translating those needs into actionable business/IT plans, and delivering documentation and physical data structures that enabled the business unit IT staff to implement the solution.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, July 3rd at 11:45 AM at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA.
